Three things I like about Substack

  1. You meet a better class of person

  2. It’s not run by the greediest man in the world

  3. I’ve forgotten what this one is

“Your voice cracks? OK, darlin’, you go right on and keep giving it what you’ve got left, and the audience ignores it and goes right along with you.

I’ve found out the way to get myself through to people is just to unzip myself and let everything hang out.”

A 100 WORD STORY COLLABORATION

Brought to you by

and Erica Drayton! Enjoy!

Let’s get this weekend off to a great start and nothing does that better than an unexpected killer. I just love a good killer. Don’t you?

—————

The five cigarette butts they examined said more to me than the dead body on the lawn. A murder in broad daylight. A killer on the loose.

I wanted to get out of my car and lend a hand. But then I’d be worried about the body in my trunk.

But this was also an opportunity. After all, the killer was none other than the commissioner himself. If he thought that I would just nod dumbly at being his accomplice, he had another thing coming.

I could be the hero. I just needed to play my cards right.

Now what?

More collaboration stories coming here first every weekend!
