What to Do With Your TiF Medallion?

This is a question I get asked multiple times each week. The medallion is cool and all but how to use them?

Rather than answer each question as they come I’m writing this Note that I will heretofore link to on each weekly post in case someone new to TiF who’s receiving a medallion can know how they might want to use it.

And I’ll be sure to update this Note should more unique possibilities come along.

So, you just downloaded your medallion, now what?

  • Add it to the bottom of your story that was Featured.

    • Link the medallion back to the issue where it was featured as a nice way to help the other stories featured that week.

  • Include it in your About Page with a little note or caption stating where it’s from.

    • Link the medallion back to your story so people who happen upon your About page can read your amazing story.

  • Include it in your Welcome email.

    • Link the medallion back to your story so new subscribers can read your story.

  • Share it on your social media. That could be Instagram, Bluesky, etc.

  • Restack your story on Notes with a comment, including the medallion.

Was your Featured story a part of a Short Serial or Serial? Make sure to include a link to either the first part or index page so anyone who comes across your medallion can decide to read from the beginning. And I hope you’ve got a link to get back to the beginner or the index page in each of your ch/ep of your serial as well.

Who gets a medallion?

Only those stories that are Featured receive a medallion. In 2024 it is 15 stories and in 2025 that number will increase to 20 stories.

Honorable Mentions DO NOT receive medallions with ONE exception. Any Honorable Mention included in the Monthly Recaps DO receive a medallion.

If you have any other unique or different ways you’ve used your medallion, leave them in the comments.
