All of capitalist progress and “scientific innovation” has been built on externalized costs using the idea of personal comfort and individualized safety. What we see today is there is nowhere left to externalized the costs. The world is smaller, the population is bigger, the resource use is exponential, and induced demand will destroy the entire biosphere faster than anyone is predicting.
