The actual connection between your daily work and the mission. Most people can't answer it clearly. Not because they don't care — because nobody's drawn the line for them. If you lead anyone — a team, a family, a project — try asking the people around you that question this week. Not as a test. As a genuine curiosity. Their answer will tell you more about your leadership than any performance review ever could.
