Make money doing the work you believe in

I've been thinking about a question that every person on a team should be able to answer: How does what I do contribute to the objectives of this organization? Not your job title. Not your task list. The actual connection between your daily work and the mission. Most people can't answer it clearly. Not because they don't care — because nobody's drawn the line for them. If you lead anyone — a team, a family, a project — try asking the people around you that question this week. Not as a test. As a genuine curiosity. Their answer will tell you more about your leadership than any performance review ever could.
