Today I visited my family history in Hazard.

My dad grew up there, I grew up visiting my Gran on Broadway, and the Petrey name has left a deep legacy in the town.

My Great Great Grandfather, Asbel Shakespeare Petrey, founded multiple churches in the region. The plaque heading into town reads “Mountain Missonary” and is dedicated to his work. I even got to visit with the one that shares our name.
