In college, Kyan Francis started watching Formula 1: Drive to Survive, and by the end of the 2021 season, he was hooked. “Then, from there, you just do your 3 a.m. deep dive on YouTube, and you get into Senna and Schumacher, and you’re like, ‘Okay, cool. These guys are sick!’”

Francis has been making F1 content on his TikTok and Instagram for three years now. His style is eccentric, approachable, and extremely Gen Z, delivering a laugh rather than an envy-evoking view of the luxe life of grand prix racing.

Esses gave Francis three disposable cameras to capture Italian GP Weekend. He’s used to shooting on his phone; it was fun not being able to check his work, and to have to trust his eye. Here’s what he saw…
