Ellen traveled to Italy with her father Waldo in 1872 when he was struggling with dementia—they met with US Ambassador George Perkins Marsh and his wife Caroline in December in Rome. Don’t know if that is in the book or not—it’s a tidbit from my research on US women in Italy!
I look forward to lots of little gems about these sisters and their role in preserving their family’s legacy.
