On January 1, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the United Nations Declaration at the Arcadia Conference in Washington, D.C.

The 26 signatory nations, including the United States, the Soviet Union, and Great Britain, pledged to commit their “full resources” to defeating the Axis powers.
