In Gstaad this weekend, I caught a glimpse of the World of Words festival, where Miguel Bonnefoy reflected on Literature as Need Not as Luxury. A reminder that books are lifelines — vessels of memory, imagination, and identity.

His novel Héritage carries that vision too, with the image of a synagogue in Argentina built from olive and quebracho wood: a fragile yet enduring symbol of cultures interwoven.
