Yes, that’s a much better way to state it. But my point was that we can’t be sure we’re accurately reconstructing C. For example, if you think about your C right now, are you reconstructing C or are you reconstructing a memory of C from a few milliseconds ago? And we know of all sorts of human biases and confabulations

So I question whether one can take one’s personal reconstruction of C and extrapolate to what consciousness is ontologically. Especially when we have the option of asking a whole bunch of people, doing a comparitive analysis, cross referencing with scientific measurements, and then extrapolating. Which of those two will get closer to reality?
