My focus here on Substack is building community. I don't worry too much about subscriber count. I try to post at least one encouraging note every day (sometimes several!) I engage with other writers and readers by responding to their notes. When I read a newsletter post I enjoy, I do the Substack hat trick: I like the post, repost, and leave a friendly comment.

I agree with so many comments here, but while it feels good to hear voices in agreement with mine, sitting on our computers will really change nothing.
