I should also note: I completely reversed my severe Hashimoto's (TSH was 49!), got off thyroid medication, and got my TPO antibodies into remission using a GAPS diet. I was not supplementing with iodine at the time. But for the last couple of months, I've been doing 3 drops of Lugol's 2% per day, and I got my TPO antibodies to shrink from 28 to 21. Both numbers are remission, since below 34 is considered remission, but I'd still like to get my antibodies as low as possible. I also had my TSH drop from 1.1 to 0.6 since starting the iodine (no thyroid meds, no dessicated thyroid gland, etc).
