Whether Fiorentina plays 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2, they don’t have any defensive midfielders outside of Nicolussi Caviglia. Mandragora and Fagioli don’t work together in a midfield 2 because they’re overpowered by physical midfielders every game. Sohm doesn’t add much from a defensive standpoint either. Both coaches have tried almost every combination of these players together, with poor results.
