Make money doing the work you believe in
Although the government-wide numbers on the 2025 SBA Small Business Procurement Scorecard were disappointing, to say the least, it’s worth noting that some individual agencies bucked the downward trend.
A few examples:
1. The Department of Commerce exceeded all ten of its prime contracting and subcontracting goals. (Government-wide, it was 5 of 10).
2. Commerce achieved increases in seven of ten prime contracting and subcontracting categories as compared to FY 2024. (Government-wide, it was zero of ten).
3. The Department of Justice met all five prime contracting goal. In all five categories, DoJ exceeded its FY 2024 numbers.
4. The GSA achieved a 19.2% increase in unique small business primes. (Government-wide, it was a nearly 7% decrease).
5. The GSA achieved an increase in unique small primes in all five categories. (Government-wide, it was one of five).
Again, as those who saw my previous post know, I am very disappointed and concerned with the government-wide small business numbers and trends. It’s worth keeping in mind, though, that there are pieces of good news at agency level in certain cases. Kudos to those agencies that maintained such a strong small business commitment in a turbulent environment.
