The CAS has said the same thing three times about multi-club ownerships, and UEFA has won all three times.

Crystal Palace, Drogheda, and DAC Dunajská Streda challenged Art. 5.01 of the UEFA regulations with different arguments — fundamental rights, proportionality, legitimate expectation — and in all three cases the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the rule.

The message is clear: UEFA can prohibit a single owner from fielding two clubs in the same European competition. This is not an opinion; it is now settled jurisprudence. The Premier League, which has several clubs in this situation, is dealing with the consequences.

For Italian clubs, including Milan, this changes little in the short term. But in the medium term — should RedBird expand its European portfolio — the regulatory framework is already defined.
