Make money doing the work you believe in
Some might call me jealous.
Of course I am jealous that after 6 years post engineering PhD , over 200 job apps, and graduating with high end publications in Nature and working myself to the bone, rationing hot dogs for supper, I make 60K when others are getting 200K job offers post grad and get a job based on a referral.
But I’m madder that only 25% of doctorate owners in the US earn over $171,000. And that in 2023, new female PhD recipients had a median salary offer of $87,000, while men received a median of $110,000
And sick people online are weaponizing my sharing of mental health challenges online against me and calling me all sorts of names.
