Plants have many cool tricks that enable them to survive and thrive. But one most plants have to at least some degree is the ability to regenerate, to grow a whole new plant from just a bit of root or stem.
Some plants have harnessed this ability to multiply by effectively cloning themselves. Take poplars and willows for example. Others need to get coaxed into it, but haven’t completely lost this ability.
Plant science, horticulture, and agriculture use it as one of its ways of multiplying plants.
