Today I worked on a simple proof-of-concept MCP client and server using Ollama AI model qwen3:8b running locally on my Macbook. MCP client had 3 tools to choose from, one of them was connected to my Postgres SQL database that holds Substack metrics.

I asked “create a weekly report to summarize reaction_count, restack_count and comment_count of notes user finntropy has written using postgres tool. Review notes with highest engagement value and summarize using body text.”

The result was not perfect but I got different reports, like this one. Using MCP (Model Context Protocol) does make tools integrations with AI models simpler.
