Last week an old client appeared with a project that has been on the back burner for about a month. “We’re good to go!” he said.
Except the project was neither good nor going…
We agreed there was still a shopping list of things he needed to finish before we could move forward.
We wrapped up the zoom in 5 minutes, and said we’d reconvene in a couple of weeks.
The call was barely done when I felt myself reaching for my phone. I knew I had to send the text…the one I really should have sent ages ago…
I really wanted the project to happen but I’ve known it wasn’t right for me for some time now.
It’s so hard to walk away from work. But the wrong work takes up valuable brain space. It saps creativity. It takes your focus off the work you could be doing.
So I sent the text.
Thanks for considering me for this, but I’ve decided not to move forward on it…
He responded with a gracious reply.
And so…Onwards.
