I’ve seen some good writing on atomization recently: breaking math skills down into small steps.
Atomization is great! But lots of teachers will say, “hey I already do that.”
The key to atomization that’s often forgotten: break things down into small steps, and practice after each step. A bit of practice consolidates the learning from the previous step. Without that consolidation, you’re building on a shaky foundation.
Even better: small steps, practice after each step, and check for understanding before moving on.
