Make money doing the work you believe in

Read this in an online course on math pedagogy:

“While students likely need practice, the emphasis here is not drill and kill or timed repetition of math facts. Instead, we want to help students see patterns and identify pen-and-paper and mental strategies to perform calculations accurately and efficiently.”

I despise this stuff. There’s a whole part of the math world that constantly seems terrified of practice. Practice is important! We should be able to say practice is important without throwing in all these qualifiers and hesitations.

If we can agree practice is important, we can talk about how to do practice well. That’s what I’m interested in.
