Dear Christopher and Chris,
I am asking you again for last minute clemency of the Sanctuary Mahi Whenua Gardens, an Auckland urban community and educational food production gardens, 2 hectares of fertile land complete with a 20+ year food forest.
Destroying this unique green infrastructure is ecocide, cruel, irresponsible.
It's ecocide because it's destroying a central ecosystem, an rare existing green infrastructure with nature trees no money can replace.
It's cruel because if prevents communities and future generations to feed themselves
It's irresponsible because we need many more of these share fertile lands to create a low carbon resilient society.
Ecocide is already illegal in a dozen countries.
One day, it will be illegal in NZ too.
While the laws change to adapt to the 21st century situation and refocus on nature and communities, I am asking again, please, to stop the destruction of this Sanctuary.
