The app for independent voices

Using Instagram can be infuriating. It could be an excellent tool for organizing and curating one’s personal, professional and cultural life; but Meta is determined to enforce the experience of an immersive dreamworld, where the more you use it, the more helpless you feel — as Patti Smith said: “ lost in a valley of pleasure… lost in the infinite sea.”

I have an intuition that Substack (in addition to its designed use) might be useful as an anchor to ground and tame the info in my Instagram posts, and others’ consumption of them. So instead of using one of the common “link-in-bio” apps to create a clickable link archive on my Instagram profile, I’m linking to the notes tab on my Substack page.

I’m hoping my Notes stack will develop into a more navigable and useful link resource than the standard external services most people seem to use, which can be annoying and confusing in themselves, and hardly improve the quality of the Instagram browsing experience.
