“I don’t think the photographs tell a story, but I can tell the story of my looking at the photographs. These simple images in mostly muted colours somehow struck me as insufficient. I found myself imagining absent protagonists, and inventing narratives about their desires and needs. Yet my speculations seemed to slide inexorably towards banality and the mundane, and left me with a craving for drama, intensity and luminosity.”
Thanks to Caroline Howard for her insightful comments on Just three photos #3 and thanks to all the other commenters for agreeing to take part in a strange experiment. I’m hoping to publish some thoughts about AI and photography education in a week or so.
