French Vignette

La classe. The classroom.

I’ve known many in my life, as a student and much later, as an educator.

These days I continue to teach wherever I may be, whatever the setting.

A professor at Seattle’s University of Washington (where I was pursuing a Training Specialist certification over two decades ago) praised my “situational fluency.”

I had to look it up (and never forgot.)

There are many types of classrooms. ‘Tis a good thing.

How limited our education would be if we only learned between four walls!

There are many types of students. I chose to specialize early on in adult education.

Over the last week during the first of the French Immersion workshops launched in Tours, Loire Valley, this month, I taught; I guided and taught some more.

What a great classroom line up we all enjoyed together, at the café that welcomed us every morning, around the city (or the area) on guided walks, while discovering local food (and crafts) at local businesses and museums.

Long live “la classe” (the classroom) wherever it may be!
