And just like that, the much-derided 2025 has turned into a doozy of a year: The Great Dolly Parton has just joined Substack, y’all.

I, for one, wish Dolly became the umpteenth American to relocate to Europe (France, preferably) to bring her unique blend of sass, sparkles, warmth and humor.

Dolly strikes me as someone who doesn’t suffer fools gladly.

I suspect that she would offer a fresh take on French life and would turn even the most infuriating bureaucratic hurdle or cumbersome rule into a daily adventure with a big grin and her trademark “can do” attitude.

She would also laugh at the French who grouse and think they live in Hell (those who do, that is.)

Then again Dolly once wore her now renowned “Coat of Many Colors” and knows a real challenge when she sees one.
