Depends. Can the company hire a more experienced developer?
In my opinion, the need for junior developers comes from
Hiring because they need more headcount
Creating a cost-efficient structure in which they can grow people while paying them less from the start
If there are 10 experienced developers and 10 junior developers applying for 10 jobs, all willing to earn the same money, I’d hire the experienced developers (assuming experienced == better, which isn’t always the case)
So I think it depends on whether this becomes a Jevons paradox, and more things become software because the cost of writing software is cheaper. Or we end up with more developers than jobs, and we all try to get something, even if it’s less than what we used to earn
