so, today I attempted to update my Linux install on my man desktop, things went ok, but then I decided to update to a newer kernel too. After that, it had a kernel panic, the whole thing shut down, and now it refuses to boot up at all… it seems that my water cooler died and now it’s getting too hot to even boot properly.

I switched out the water cooler for one of those AMD Vortex air coolers, but it still gets too hot and won’t boot… so I’m stuck on an old laptop that is so slow I can’t even load the chat messages age here on Substack.

I desperately need a new desktop, but good luck, since I have basically zero income.

anybody out there in TV Land have a decent used desktop computer they don’t need? Something a little more recent than my ancient AMD FX 8350? An early Ryzen would be a nice step up….
