I captured this moment at the Foire du Trône, the oldest funfair in France. Its origins date back to 957, when it began as a simple gingerbread market for the monks.

Originally known as the Gingerbread Fair, it was held in the Place du Trône (now the Place de la Nation). For over a thousand years, it survived revolutions, empires, and the upheavals of the world, finally settling in the Pelouse de Reuilly in the 1960s.

What began as a medieval market has transformed into this vibrant and swirling celebration of life. When you see people from all walks of life laughing on these rides today, you're witnessing a Parisian tradition of joy that has been going strong for over a millennium. And it reminds me why I love this city.

In the air, as the vintage swings take flight, a perfect reflection of Paris unfolds: a blend of all origins and backgrounds, rotating in harmony. It's much more than just a fair; it's a space of relaxation and joy where differences melt into the night sky.
