I sat today in the dappled light of Brooklyn, listening to the urban birdsongs weave through the edges of a small park while I moved through Chafic LaRochelle’s stunning flash fiction. I found myself looking at the strangers around me, wondering who else was tuned into this ancient frequency and who had traded it for the muffled plastic of noise cancelling AirPods (a trade I make far too often). This piece is the "doublesong" that perfectly captures our human hunger to read the world as an omen. a beautiful reminder of the comfort we find in shared narratives, when men nod along, when we can all disappear…I am carrying the weight of this world you built with me today, friend.
