A stunning, heart-wrenching, swirling poetic piece from Chafic LaRochelle

A few things really stayed with me: the blending of ancient mythology with modern culture and that sterile hotel room backdrop. The way you render companionship, even in the face of danger and suffering, as something far more human than withering alone. And the homesickness. man, you nail it. Not just longing, but a kind of cognitive drift (disappearing).

Away from home as a loss of self.

It’s not exactly the same, but if you’ve ever traveled for work or a conference, this captures that surreal displacement. the purgatorial sameness of some shitty hotel, where everything is standardized and slightly unreal. It can feel genuinely otherworldly.

Fantastic work, bud.
