Let’s take a moment to congratulate Kashima, the young lady who lives with Lena and me who we've practically raised from the age of seven. We consider her our daughter.

She's sixteen.

Only last year she was a nightmare.

Kashima has been expelled from every school she's been in. She's attacked teachers. She's been in juvenile detention facilities. She was uncontrollable. Everybody had written her off.

But these last few months she's really kept her head down and put her mind to catching up on all that she lost out on.

Today, she got an email notifying her that she passed the entrance exam into a higher education course.

She’s a very intelligent young woman.

I am mighty proud of her.
