This is depressing and hopeful in equal measure. Depressing because the striking teachers backed by the Socialist Workers Party ("workload issues", sure) with their keffiyehs and pally flags are symptomatic of something that runs through the UK’s public sector and large swathes of the middle class – I don't need to spell it out here. Hopeful because the children grasp what's going on, see these clowns for who they are and have had enough of it.
I can't wait for this era to end – for a generation utterly sick of what's been done to our society to pick up the pieces and start over. Though things will probably have to get worse first, and I'm perhaps too optimistic that these kids are representative of what's coming next.
