Make money doing the work you believe in

at the beginning of this year, I ran a survey with the newsletter’s most avid readers to understand what they like/dislike, want/don’t want.

in one of the responses, someone said they don’t like paying for the subscription bc tips on things to do in SP are something a bunch of content creators do for free.

and it’s true. I myself follow dozens of “São Paulo tips” content creators—some great, some terrible. and, yes, there are tips that get repeated endlessly—new exhibition at MASP, at Pinacoteca, at Casa Bradesco, at Farol Santander, any new hyped bar. there’s no right or wrong, it’s just how things are: whatever generates interest fuels a cycle of generating more interest.

precisely because I know some things get talked about too much, I always try to talk about things that get talked about too little. that’s also why I try to invite people who know more than I do to talk about other subjects/areas (like the recent specials on Ipiranga and Barra Funda).

but the respondent doesn’t know, or didn’t notice.

well then, I want you to notice that this week there’s a punk party at Soberano (the coolest bar in the city that you don’t know!), objects by Isay Weinfield at Tomie Ohtake, macabre films at CCBB, and the Fotos da Quebrada exhibit at Museu das Favelas.
