Seeing fields of this Gaillardia pulchella takes me back to a wildflower collection I made in fifth grade. Years later, my son used those same pressed flowers to help identify the ones he collected for a school project.
Just recently, he told me he saw wildflowers growing and remembered I had taught him how to press them. The flower press he used was made by his grandfather.
That little flower press has carried more than flowers through the years.
