there's obviously a lot of reasons why "literary culture" barely exists in america these days but it really doesn't help that we have an IMDb equivalent for books but no Letterboxd equivalent. like there's plenty of valid criticism to be levied against LB, but think about how much worse it would be for film culture if the only show in town was still a site telling people The Shawshank Redemption was the peak of the artform. this is the situation of anglophone literature today
