I appreciate the heads up on this situation with industrial food systems and steel industry being impacted.

I do not know where you stand exactly on the viability of the perpetuation of the status quo of industrial civilization and the extractivism it necessitates, but I feel compelled to speak to “de-industrialization” here.

You mentioned “de-industrialization” in this video (in the context of the oligarch’s carbon metric measuring “global warming” smart city/technocratic tyranny scam). While that does not necessarily mean you support or stand against it, I think it’s also worth considering that while there may indeed be a nefarious plan by plutocrats to use greenwashing propaganda to justify the implementation of their neo-feudalism (cars and jets for me but not for thee) system, it’s also worth keeping in mind that industrial extraction and mining is destroying the Earth’s biosphere, displacing indigenous communities and poisoning waterways.

Thus, in this time when some people that want to stand against the WEF/globalist/technocrat’s “Sustainable Development” agenda, some unintentionally end up cheering for the perpetuation of industrialization (feeling this is a form of “rebellion” against the greenwashing globalist narrative). Thus, I feel that it we should also take an honest look at the costs of those industries for people in far away places, ecosystems in places like the Amazon jungle and northern Nordic boreal forest regions (iron mining is required for steel production) and the quality of the sacred living waters.

As Derrick Broze pointed out in a conversation with James Corbett (linked below: substack.com/@gavinmoun… ), there is a phenomenon where some people that wake up to the globalist/technocrat anti-human eugenics agenda can sometimes become stuck in yet another mind trap which is to become “anti-nature” (supporting exploitative industries that profit GNP and corporations they favor and associating that with “freedom”, while they are simultaneously cheering for industries that are oppressing indigenous people, poisoning the water, air and their bodies).

I think we should ask ourselves some hard questions about industries that require perpetual industrial extraction (such as open pit mining for iron, lithium, copper etc).

(The questions below are not directed at “you” personally, Christian The Ice Age Farmer, but the proverbial “you”, as in everyone)

Some of those questions might include:

If you believe in the “progress” of industrial civilization (necessitating perpetual large scale industrial mining) at all costs, What exactly would you personally be willing sacrifice for the continuation of that industrialism (that some call the “progress” of civilization) if it was up to you?

When I share informative material about the ecological impacts of mining, clearcutting ancient forests or poisoning watersheds for industrial civilization expansion/infrastructure maintenance I often get people chastising me for being “against progress”.

My question to these “progress” coveting individuals are as follows (again, not saying you are one of them, but there are a lot of them in the “freedom”, “truther” and “anti-globalist” circles):

And what are you willing to sacrifice to ensure it is perpetuated ?

Would you sacrifice your backyard to become an open pit mine? Someone else’s?

Rivers? Lakes? Forests? Mountain Tops? A few hundred humans that get in the way?

What cost is too much to ensure we continue this thing you call “progress”?

You (Christian) may be well informed on this topic already, but here is the long and short of it for those not familiar with what modern day industrial mining looks like.

This applies to copper, iron, aluminum, silica, lithium, rare earth minerals for magnets and microchips, cobalt, gold, silver, diamonds and more.

All modern industrial mining involves deforestation, draining lakes and rivers, blowing the land into pieces with explosives, carving deep gashes into the Earth with giant machines, using truckloads of industrial solvents like sulfuric acid (resulting in water contamination with toxic sludge) dragging that processed rubble to processing facilities with fleets of heavy machinery then processing the ore with extremely high energy furnaces using another slew of toxic chemicals (which further contaminate the water table, lakes, rivers and ocean elsewhere).

Open pit mining especially causes surface water contamination, it also destroys other water sources. So, it’s also responsible for the creation of toxic rain. The water cycle largely depends on the limited forests. The trees extract underground water and release it into the atmosphere for this process to continue. Therefore, open pit mining (as well as underground hard rock mining such as this) hinders the water cycle from providing adequate rainfall in the affected areas. The impacts are severe. The long term result will be increased regional droughts, biodiversity loss, poisoned fish, livestock, vegetables, fruit, soil erosion and the risk of desertification.

For all of the things that some covetously describe under the umbrella term of the “progress” (on modern industrial civilization) large scale industrial mining was required and will be required to continue in order to perpetuate those conveniences and comforts.

All of these substances are mined. It hardly matters which material we examine—the horrors are the same. The life stripped to bare rock, the rock hacked, bludgeoned, or bombed into cavernous pits, the pits engulfing sweeps of land that will not recover until the next ice age recedes.

Surrounding the devastation is always more: the leach ponds, the toxic tailings, the acid rain, the ulcerated fish, the fine particulates shredding lung tissue with every breath. In the eight centuries of its rule, the Roman Empire covered Greenland in 800 tons of copper and 400 tons of lead from its mines.

Try to imagine the scale: windborne dust from 4,000 miles away, captured in the crystals of snowflakes, one by one by one, accreting to 800 tons. Victims of Rome’s industrial pollution may have numbered in the millions across Europe and the Middle East. The health impacts, then as now, are ghastly: convulsions, vomiting, diarrhea, anemia, stunted fetal growth, mental retardation, and cancer.

The seasonal river valley Wadi Faynan, in modern-day Jordan, is the site of an ancient Roman copper mine. Two thousand years has not been enough time to heal the damage from the mine. To this day, “the growth of the plants is stunted and their reproductive systems severely damaged.” The sheep there still have disturbing concentrations of copper in their feces, urine, and milk. Goats from the area are in high demand because they have no parasites, “but this is almost certainly because their guts are poisonous.” A deathly monument of slag still rises 30 meters high.

These things happen in a half-mythical “somewhere else,” unless you live there, in which case it’s your water and air, your lungs and skin, your cancer, and your child’s asthma. Which is why mines are always fiercely opposed by the people condemned to endure them.

The example of the ancient Roman mine was shared to illustrate how industrial mining leaves long lasting scars in the earth, and that remains today (even with the best “remediation” government policies followed).

There are people north of me now dealing with arsenic in their ground water due to lithium mining nearby, now they cannot trust having live stock or growing food on their homestead anymore and they`ll have to move.

Thus, I feel we all need to ask ourselves the question:

If the perpetuation of industrialism along with the mining it necessitates (and all the conveniences that come along with it) required your own backyard to look like the image in the post linked below, would you still want it?
