I am loving this family heirloom nut cracker/vice that I inherited from my grandparents. It makes cracking open Shagbark Hickory nuts so much easier! :)

And I get to see the structure of the nut meat inside which reveals very fascinating fractal geometry resembling human brains and lung shapes.

I used a couple pounds of these Hickory nuts along with some wild pine nuts and frozen pawpaw pulp from the garden to make a couple loafs (and a few cupcake trays) of Hickory, Pine Nut and PawPaw Banana bread, maaaan is it ever tasty! <3
