Here’s one of the trees I started last year: Catalpa. I love this one because it already has a bit of a bonsai look about it. Following this one I started several different trees and bushes, all dug up freely from the yard. So far this has been a very cheap and cheerful hobby. However, I have purchased special pruners and a set of bonsai wires, but they were affordable.
Random garden stuff: Pics 1 &2. Yesterday, I dug up a northern catalpa that came up from leaf litter we got for free last spring. They grow to be massive trees and we already have two in the yard that were here when we moved in.
