Helloooooo Curtis

You want to learn how to butcher your own meat. I very much recommend you do this. If we, who came straight from the city can do it, you can do it too. There is a sense of security and confidence in rising and butchering your own meat.

We butcher our animals for meat, yes. We do not butcher any one under 1 year old, except for chickens in the fall. We love and take good care of our animals. Take care of your animals, and your animals will take care of you.

Hubby did not know how to butcher at first. He did not know how to cut the meat and package it for the winter. He watched ‘how to butcher videos’ on yt. Hubby cuts up the meat and I wrap it in ‘butcher meat paper.’ We have 2 deep freezers we fill up for the winter.

Last year hubby bought a meat drying book. He made his first dry leg of lamb. It came out too salty. Trial and error. Try again.

We do not eat meat with nitrates and nitrites, hence learning how to dry our own meats.

Why nitrates and nitrites in processed meats are harmful – but those in vegetables aren’t
