IME, therapists—and I’ve seen several over the years—don’t really know what they’re doing.

While well meaning and kind, most focus on pathologizing life rather than suggesting the kind of behavioral changes that would lead to more satisfaction and happiness. Most people don’t need to talk about their feelings. They need a mission—a purpose for being—and likely they need to exercise more and eat better too.
