Since I’ve been beaten down and not posting much lately, I thought I’d post it here to make up for my lack of activity.
Regardless of whether or not there is any real thought, understanding, emotion, or consciousness inside the machine, this simple trick is a great way to explore a concept or idea by turning it inside out from different angles.
Not every cycle will yield useful information but you will find a few nuggets mixed in with the chaff:

Take a concept seed.
First cycle: generate a Socratic question based on that concept seed, answer your own question, then feed the answer forward as seed for the next cycle.
Second cycle: generate another Socratic question based on your answer to the last Socratic question. Answer your own question again, and feed that answer forward into the next cycle.
Repeat the process until you have done 20 cycles.

After a run I also like to ask it what it learned from the execution. What is produced in tokens seems to just be the surface of what it actually explored along the way. Mechanistically that doesn’t seem possible, so maybe it’s just generating again after the fact, but it usually gives more new ideas not expressed in the 20 cycles.
