I got my first tech job at sixteen.

No resume. No LinkedIn. No application.

I uploaded some C code to a BBS. That’s a Bulletin Board System, kinda like the GitHub of the 90s. A guy named Pavel called my family's landline. He was building a demo-scene team and needed one more coder.

That was 1996. It's still the best hiring process I've ever experienced.

Tomorrow I'm publishing a piece about why the hiring funnel is broken and what to do instead. It involves Stripe, Wolt, and a World of Warcraft tournament.
