Homer Simpson is a terrible employee.

Most managers delegate by handing off tasks. "Do this, come back when it's done." That's not delegation. That's outsourcing with extra steps.

Real delegation means matching the task to the person's growth edge, setting SMART goals they can own, painting a clear picture of success, providing scaffolding without hovering, and making failure safe enough that they actually stretch.

If the person can't fail, you didn't delegate. You automated.
