#OnThisDay January 31, 1912: Francis Schaeffer was born. Variously called the “Guru of the Fundamentalists,” “Missionary to the Intellectuals,” and “Godfather of Evangelicalism,” Schaeffer was undoubtedly one of the most influential thinkers, authors, and apologists of the past generation. His books, recordings, and films gave new credibility to Evangelicals interested in the arts, culture, politics, and society—and they discipled me as a young Christian.
