This morning, over breakfast, I watched a father teach his son how to be cruel.
Two queer men were standing in line, dressed up, minding their own business.
I saw the father stare, comment, and chuckle. The teenage son followed suit.
People like to believe prejudice comes out of nowhere.
It doesn’t.
It’s taught early, casually, and often by the people who should know better.
Adults. Parents.
