Over the past couple of days I’ve been thinking seriously about whether I should stop rating books altogether. Everything keeps landing at three stars, which makes the whole system feel increasingly meaningless. Or maybe I need to sit down and properly reassess what each rating actually means for me? Do I need to be harsher with my standards, or do I need to be kinder and accept that most books are solidly fine rather than transcendent?
