I graduated with a creative writing degree 20 years ago and it has served me well.

Pro tip: add on a second major in another field or at least a substantive minor. I went to school in 2002 with the English major path but added on political science in 2004. Having the combination of both and working both tracks for 20 years now has made me unique in my field.
