Don’t think just because the religion is called “Christianity” that it’s really about the person of Jesus Christ.
That’s kind of like thinking that if the Falcons play the Cowboys in the superbowl then it will have something to do with birds and guys in big hats riding horses.
Throughout history, Jesus has just been the mascot for armies and the Bible merely a tool to emotionally manipulate people.
Christianity writ large is not just broken now, it has always been broken.
Political discourse is increasingly taking on religious language as a license to endorse violence and “holy war.”
But this is not the message of the Bible. Jesus’ victory is through his own self-sacrificial bloodshed, not through the bloodshed of his enemies. That this obvious biblical truth has been obfuscated in American Christianity is a moral failure in the Church’s discipleship.
