He’s really not very intelligent. The God Delusion made that more than clear. Success in one professional domain does not equate to intelligence broadly. Someone who is a genius in one area will be a moron almost everywhere else. Most people have the humility and common sense to realize that but Dawkins and so many so-called “public intellectuals” do not.
And there’s this unpleasant truth: those who have adolescent views about God will have adolescent views about everything.
Being able to transcend the Biblical literalist vs secular materialist debate is one of the basic bars of adult maturity. What? There are religious traditions which do not take the Bible all literally like it’s a newspaper? Really? Who could have imagined?
